Network Security

'Network Hacking & Defense'

The fast growing use of computer networks by most organizations has also resulted in the dramatic growth of subversive activities by a proliferating army of network vandals and criminals popularly known as 'hackers'. These hackers target networked systems with the intention of either making the systems dysfunctional or break into networks to steal / destroy vital corporate information.

The number of hackers operating internationally is expected, within the next 5 years, to reach around 20 million. Most of them could be classed as amateurs, known as 'script kiddies', who use an array of hacking tools freely available on the Internet. Many of these tools operate on a 'point-and-click' basis where the attacker does not require any training or knowledge of network communication protocols, computer and operating system functionalities. There are also a growing band of professional hackers, known as 'black hats', who are able to perform deep network penetration, using sophisticated entry and detection avoidance techniques, that hides their malicious damaging activities.

Course Objectives

The 'Network Hacking & Defense' course deals comprehensively with significant computer network security issues. It provides attendees with practical, hands-on experience of  major risks exisiting in networked systems as well as in-depth knowledge of how these insecurities can be mitigated through implementation of specific procedures, tools and techniques

By undertaking the course, attendees will:

  • Learn about significant computer network weaknesses
  • Understand the underlying psychology that motivate hackers
  • Use the approaches used by hackers to target networks
  • Conduct local and widea area network penetration and hacking
  • Apply the latest network defense tools and techniques
  • Develop robust and comprehensive network security policies
